Meeting of the Activity TRISECA 3-4 October 2017

Meeting of the Activity TRISECA “Identification and updating data of eligible AEGIS accessions in both wheat and rye species” was held in Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute in Radzików, Poland, 3-4 October 2017. The meeting was held for members of the ECPGR wheat working group. During the meeting participants presented wheat and rye collections that were selected to be included in the AEGIS (A European Genebank Integrated System). Issues were duscussed concerning availability of accessions and quantity and quality of collected data.

The meeting was chaired by BRC’s (Biological Resource Center’s ) scientific head François Balfourier, who presented the management principles of the AEGIS facilities and provided a summary of TRISECA activities and a plan for future activities. He also discussed the objectives achieved by the wheat working group during the IX Phase of the ECPGR Activities. Then, the ECPGR coordinator Lorenzo Maggioni presented the plan of the X Phase of the ECPGR Activities.

During the workshop, a tour around the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources (NCPGR) took place. Head of the NCPGR Prof. Jerzy H. Czembor showed the participants the long-term storage facilities (Prof. Jerzy H. Czembor), herbarium, molecular laboratory (Joanna Noceń, Urszula Piechota) and central database (EGISET) (Marcin Zaczyński).
